GALLERIST ALEX DUVE: HIS SELF-CARE AS A SOCIAL LIGHT
What is your passion?
I am passionate about life, all aspects of it. Not only about art. I am so lucky to have made my main passion my profession, but it’s not only art I am passionate about, it’s every aspect of life.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Social, honest and maybe a bit different? Whatever that means …..
What do you do for your well-being?
Foremost I try to make sure I get enough sleep. I love sleeping. And I need my 8 hours. That does not always work, but in order to feel good and to be 100% productive, I need 8 hours of sleep.
I drink 2-3 liters of water every day, which is essential for my wellbeing. These two things are the core aspects for my inner peace. You do not only feel better, but you can also see it, when you get enough sleep and drink enough water.
Best of course without alcohol. I try to reduce my alcohol consumption to a minimum, which is not easy as an art dealer. A big part of my job is to socialize with clients and mostly alcohol is involved. Sometimes you have to pull yourself together to say no and I have to admit, it doesn't always work out.
Getting out of Berlin every few weeks, is another essential aspect for my well being. Go away for the weekend and … here it comes again, go to bed early and don’t drink. Like that I can recharge my battery best. There are too many temptations in Berlin that can be very counterproductive.
What routines help you feel good?
In addition to the points mentioned above, I go to the gym 3-5 times a week and run 1-2 times a week. Both early mornings at 7. This routine wakes me up and I feel so ready for the day afterwards. I also try to meditate every morning for at least 10 minutes.
What do you miss from your childhood?
Getting through the day so carefree as a child. Not worrying about anything and living more for the moment. By the way, meditation is a key to reach this stage again.
